Tel Aviv [Israel], October 19, 2024: On Friday, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) neutralized two armed terrorists who crossed into Israeli territory near the border with Jordan, south of the Dead Sea. The incident occurred after IDF observers detected suspicious movement and dispatched forces to the area.
According to the IDF, the two terrorists managed to cross a few meters into Israel before opening fire at the approaching forces. They were swiftly eliminated by two IDF reservists from the Home Front Command, operating under the Yoav Regional Brigade.
During the exchange of gunfire, one IDF soldier and one reservist sustained light to moderate injuries. Both were evacuated to a hospital for treatment, and their families have been informed of their condition.
In response to the incident, IDF and Israeli security forces have been actively blocking routes and conducting extensive searches in the area amid concerns that additional suspects may be present.
The beaches along the Dead Sea, which were crowded with tourists enjoying the Sukkot holiday weekend, have been evacuated by the Israeli Police as a precaution. Border Police forces are also stationed around the hotel areas to ensure safety.
Security operations in the region are ongoing, and authorities have advised the public to remain vigilant and follow any instructions issued by officials.
