Ind Vs Bang : Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Impressive Knock Of 56 Guided India To 176/6

In the first Test of the two-match series between India and Bangladesh at Chennai, India reached 176/6 at the close of the second session, largely thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s gritty knock of 56 off 118 balls. The 21-year-old southpaw from Mumbai anchored the innings amid a challenging start for the hosts.

Resuming the second session at 88/3, Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant (39) aimed to rebuild India’s innings, but Pant was dismissed by Bangladesh’s standout bowler Hasan Mahmud, who claimed his fourth wicket. KL Rahul then came in and added 16 runs before falling to Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

At 144, both Rahul and Jaiswal were dismissed in quick succession, with Jaiswal’s crucial 56-run knock, which included nine boundaries, coming to an end. After these dismissals, Ravindra Jadeja (7) and Ravichandran Ashwin (21) built a steady partnership, adding 32 runs by the end of the session.

Mahmud was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh, taking 4/35, while Nahid Rana and Mehidy Hasan Miraz each took a wicket.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and opted to bowl under overcast conditions, which helped the seamers early on. Mahmud’s excellent spell put India under pressure, but Jaiswal and Pant’s partnership brought some stability to the innings.
