India Decided To Withdraw From T20 Blind Cricket World Cup Scheduled To Take Place In Pakistan

November 21, 2024: India’s Cricket Association for the Blind (CABI) has officially announced its withdrawal from the 4th T20 Blind Cricket World Cup, which was set to be held in Pakistan from November 22 to December 3, 2024. The decision comes after non-clearance from the Government of India.

In a statement, CABI emphasized that while the team had been training hard and was eager to compete, they are bound by the government’s guidance and prioritize the safety and welfare of the players. The statement reflects the association’s commitment to the continued development of Blind Cricket in India, despite this setback.

Durga Rao Tompaki, the captain of the Indian Men’s Cricket Team for the Blind, expressed the team’s disappointment at missing out on the World Cup. However, he highlighted the positive aspects of their rigorous preparation and the emergence of new talents within the squad. “We play with passion, and we represent our country with immense pride. We have always looked forward to competing at the biggest stage, and it is disheartening to miss out on this opportunity. However, we know that the next World Cup is just around the corner, and we remain committed to our training and preparation,” he said in the release.

CABI’s focus will now be on nurturing young talent, ensuring that the team remains in top form for future competitions, and continuing to grow the sport of Blind Cricket within India. Despite the disappointment, the association is optimistic about its future prospects and looks forward to stronger performances in upcoming tournaments.
