The Indian Men’s Hockey Team continued their impressive form by securing a commanding 4-1 victory over Korea in the semi-final of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024.
The match took place at the scenic Moqi Hockey Training Base in China Daur Ethnic Park, Hulunbuir. This win places India in the final, where they will face hosts China.
Uttam Singh (13′) opened the scoring for India in the first quarter. Harmanpreet Singh contributed with two goals (19′, 45+’), including a penalty corner conversion. Jarmanpreet Singh (32′) scored India’s third goal from a superb aerial pass by Sumit. Jihun Yang (33′) scored the lone goal for Korea.
India started strong, creating several chances early on, with Abhishek and Raheel testing Korea’s goalkeeper Jaehan Kim. The breakthrough came when Araijeet Singh set up Uttam Singh for a tap-in, making it 1-0. Harmanpreet Singh doubled the lead in the second quarter with a powerful flick during a penalty corner.
India continued to control the game, with Jarmanpreet Singh adding a third goal by deflecting a pass from Sumit into the net. Though Korea’s Jihun Yang pulled one back shortly after, Harmanpreet restored India’s three-goal advantage by scoring another penalty corner just before the end of the third quarter.
India dominated the fourth quarter, with Abhishek and Araijeet forcing saves, and despite Korea earning a penalty corner, their attempt went wide. India held firm and secured their place in the final with a confident 4-1 win.
Jarmanpreet Singh, named Hero of the Match, praised his team’s performance and expressed gratitude to his roommate, Sumit, for providing the assist for his goal.
India, the only undefeated team in the tournament, will face China in the final on Tuesday at 1530 IST.
