According to a BCCI source, the Indian Premier League (IPL) will probably continue to take place in India during the national election season. The general election dates are expected to be announced around the same time as the biggest cricket festival, which is expected to begin on March 22. However, a top source from the BCCI confirmed that the IPL will be held in India. Since the general election will be held at the same time, there is no way to move the tournament outside of the nation. The match may be moved to a different location if any state, for any reason, declines to host the match at that time, a BCCI source told ANI. Following the conclusion of last month’s IPL 2024 auction in Dubai, teams have already adjusted their rosters.
The most expensive player record was broken twice during the auction. Australia’s Mitchell Starc, who cost the Kolkata Knight Riders Rs24.75 crore, became the most expensive player in the tournament’s history. In addition, the number of viewers for the IPL 2024 auction increased by 57% over the previous auction. Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced on X that the IPL auction garnered more viewers than previous auctions in 2022, with a total of 22.8 million. MS Dhoni will lead the Chennai Super Kings, the five-time champions, as they attempt to retain their title.
“He has recovered well (from his knee injury),” said Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), expressing optimism about Dhoni’s return to action to ANI. He has begun training and is going through his rehab programmes. I’m sure he’ll be ready to play when the next Indian Premier League kicks off.”
