‘It Gives Us Pleasure..’, Says Music Composer Pritam After He Bags National Award for ‘Brahmastra’

October 9, 2024: Music composer Pritam was honored with the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for his work on the film Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony.

The prestigious award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. In his response to receiving the award, Pritam expressed excitement and gratitude, stating that such recognitions motivate him and provide immense pleasure when people appreciate his work.

In addition to Pritam’s award, Brahmastra also earned accolades in other categories.

Arijit Singh won the Best Male Playback Singer award for the popular song “Kesariya,” while the film itself was recognized as the Best Film in AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming & Comic), thanks to the efforts of its VFX supervisors Jaykar Arudra, Viral Thakkar, and Neelesh Gore.

Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is part of a planned trilogy set in the “Astraverse.” The film features a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni. It revolves around the character of Shiva, a DJ who discovers his mystical connection with fire and his ability to awaken the Brahmastra, a supernatural weapon capable of destroying the universe.

The winners of the 70th National Film Awards were initially announced in August 2024, and due to pandemic-related delays, the awards ceremony is running a year behind schedule. In 2023, actors Allu Arjun, Alia Bhatt, and Kriti Sanon won National Film Awards for their performances in Pushpa, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Mimi, respectively.
