“It Was A Very Hollow Feeling..” : David Miller On T20 World Cup Defeat Against India

David Miller has opened up about the emotional aftermath of South Africa’s loss to India in the T20 World Cup final, describing it as one of the most challenging moments of his career.

Reflecting on the disappointment, Miller admitted, “I took it pretty hard. I felt like I had let the country down. I had let myself and my teammates down.”

He expressed the difficulty in processing the hollow feeling that followed the defeat, saying, “It was a very hollow feeling. I almost just didn’t want to walk off the field.” His raw emotions underscore the immense pressure and expectations in such high-stakes games.

Despite the emotional setback, Miller recently achieved a significant career milestone by playing his 500th T20 match during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) game between his team, Barbados Royals, and Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Miller marked the occasion in style, scoring an unbeaten 71 off just 34 balls with eight fours and five sixes, at a strike rate of 208.82. However, Barbados fell short in their chase of 219/8, managing 172/9 despite Miller’s efforts.

Throughout his T20 career, Miller has amassed 10,678 runs at an average of 34.89 and a strike rate of over 137, including four centuries and 48 half-centuries. He has made a significant impact across global leagues, from the IPL and CPL to Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) and South Africa’s SA20, solidifying his reputation as a dependable and explosive middle-order batter.

In the ongoing CPL 2024, Miller has continued to showcase his form, scoring 152 runs in six matches at an average of 38.00 and a strike rate of over 142.

Miller’s ability to bounce back and perform at a high level despite personal setbacks highlights his resilience and commitment to the game.
