The Rome Film Festival has announced that Johnny Depp will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award during its 2024 edition.

Alongside receiving the accolade, Depp’s latest directorial work, “Modi – Three Days on the Wing of Madness”, will be screened at the festival. The film portrays a dramatic period in the life of the bohemian artist Amedeo Modigliani, set in war-torn Paris in 1916. It delves into Modigliani’s struggles, as he contemplates leaving the city and ending his career while being pursued by the police.

The film features actors Riccardo Scamarcio and Antonia Desplat, and highlights Modigliani’s interactions with fellow artists and a life-altering encounter with American art collector Maurice Gangnat.

Following its debut at the San Sebastian Film Festival, “Modi” will now make an appearance in Rome, solidifying its place as a significant cinematic work. Depp’s recognition at the festival underscores his multi-faceted talents, both as an actor and a director.

In addition to Depp, the festival will also honor Viggo Mortensen with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Mortensen will showcase his film “The Dead Don’t Hurt”, a love story set during the American Civil War, starring Vicky Krieps alongside Mortensen.

The 2024 Rome Film Festival is scheduled to run from October 16 to 27, celebrating international talent and cinema.
