The first day of the mystery thriller “Merry Christmas,” starring actors Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif, started the box office slowly. The Hindi version of the movie made Rs 2.30 crore on Friday in India. With the caption, “#MerryChristmas opens similar to #SriramRaghavan’s last release #AndhaDhun [Rs 2.70 cr],” trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted on Instagram. Mostly reliant on word-of-mouth promotion, #MerryChristmas saw a significant increase in evening shows on Day 1… Fri. Rs 2.30 cr. #India biz. Note: #Hindi version. It appears that Saturday and Sunday will see an increase in trend. Sat morning shows have really opened better than Fri morning shows.”
Fans and critics gave the Sriram Raghavan-directed movie mixed reviews. Two languages were used for filming, and several supporting actors appeared in the picture. Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand are also featured in the Hindi version. In the Tamil adaptation, Rajesh Williams, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Radhika Sarathkumar play the same parts.
When Katrina first talked about her experience working with the “Jawan” actor, she said it was amazing. “The best performer is Vijay. I found myself paying close attention to his thought process and how he approached each scene during the first week of rehearsals. Before the shoot, Sriram Sir gave the actors plenty of room, and we had a long conversation. What I noticed between Vijay and my character when I watched the outcome surprised me.”
In addition, Vijay gave Katrina praise, saying, “Because she’s been in the business for so long, I was a little worried about how she would behave on set because it’s hard to work with an actor who has an attitude. When I first met her, it was in Sriram Sir’s office, and we struck up a very positive and wholesome conversation right away. She prefers to talk and listen more. On the set, there was greater understanding between us. I learned and gained so much from her.”
