Kevin Pietersen Criticizes Pakistan After Gary Kirsten’s Removal As Head Coach

Published:

October 30, 2024: Kevin Pietersen has voiced his disappointment over Gary Kirsten’s resignation as Pakistan’s head coach for the ODI and T20I formats, just six months into his tenure.

Pietersen expressed his frustration on social media, highlighting the inconsistency in Pakistan cricket’s management decisions and urging them to utilize the abundant talent within the team effectively.

Kirsten’s departure comes just before Pakistan’s upcoming white-ball tour of Australia, where they will play three ODIs and three T20Is starting November 4.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that Test coach Jason Gillespie will step in as interim head coach for this series. Gillespie recently led Pakistan to a historic Test series win over England, marking a significant achievement for the team.

Kirsten’s major challenge was the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, where Pakistan faced early elimination in the group stage. As the team prepares for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which Pakistan will host, the situation emphasizes the need for stability and effective leadership in the coaching staff. The first batch of players is set to depart for Melbourne on October 28, with the rest following shortly after.
