Ace Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen’s commanding victory over Guatemala’s Kevin Cordon in the badminton men’s singles Group L match at the ongoing Paris Olympics has been nullified following Cordon’s withdrawal from the event due to a left elbow injury.
According to Olympics.com, Cordon’s withdrawal means his upcoming Group L matches against Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie and Belgium’s Julien Carraggi will not be played. Consequently, the result of Sen’s match against Cordon has been deleted in accordance with the BWF General Competition Regulations for group stage play.
Lakshya Sen’s ranking in Group L will now be determined based on the results of his remaining two matches. Sen is set to face Julien Carraggi on July 29 in his next fixture.
Earlier on Saturday, Sen had defeated Cordon 21-8, 22-20 in straight sets, with the match lasting 42 minutes.
