Lalremsiami shares updates on India women’s hockey team preparations for Olympic Qualifiers

A key forward for the Lalremsiami women’s hockey team in India has provided information about the forward line’s preparations as they get ready for the much-anticipated Ranchi 2024 FIH Olympic Qualifiers, which takes place from January 13 to January 19. In the middle of intense training sessions and tactical exercises, Lalremsiami emphasised the team’s methodical approach to honing the dynamics of their forward line. For the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers Ranchi 2024, we have been focusing on strengthening our forward line. According to Hockey India, she stated, “We’ve committed ourselves to improving our coordination, honing our skills, and coordinating our movements to create a formidable attacking force.”

Focusing on timing, accuracy, and flexibility, Lalremsiami highlighted the cohesiveness of the forward line. “Each member brings a unique skill set to the turf, and our collective goal is to seamlessly blend our strengths to create impactful opportunities during the tournament,” she stated. “We have improved our tactics and gained a better understanding of each other’s playing styles with each training session. Our motivation comes from a common goal of improving ourselves and the team’s performance on the pitch’, said Lalremsiami.

India is notably positioned in Pool B with the United States, New Zealand, and Italy, and in Pool A with World No. 5. Germany will compete fiercely for supremacy against Chile, Japan, the Czech Republic, and the previous Asian Games champions. The top two teams from each pool will go on the quest for semi-final qualification. A trip to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris is the ultimate prize for the top three teams that win this prestigious competition.

Lalremsiami seemed confident about the forward line’s preparation as the FIH Olympic Qualifiers approached. We are feeling ready and excited to carry out our plans as we approach the tournament. We’re still focused on maximising our forward-line capabilities to guarantee our spot at the Olympics in Paris,” she said with optimism. On January 13, the Indian team will play their first game of the campaign against the United States. On January 14, they will play New Zealand. Following a day off, the hosts play Italy on January 16. This will set up the semi-finals on January 18 and the final match on January 19.
