Wordle Hint Today: July 18 Puzzle Swings Through the Trees

July 18, 2025: Before we reveal the answer to today’s Wordle puzzle (Friday, July 18), let’s go over a quick Wordle hint today to get your brain ticking. Wordle, the viral word game that gives players six chances to guess a five-letter word, was originally launched by software engineer Josh Wardle in 2021 — and has since become a daily ritual for millions.

Its popularity soared so high that The New York Times acquired it in 2022. Each guess is color-coded: green for correct letters in the right spot, yellow for correct letters in the wrong spot, and gray for letters not in the word.

NYT Wordle editor Tracy Bennett once told TODAY.com that there’s really no such thing as a bad starter word, but Wordlebot suggests “trace” as a reliable choice after analyzing over 500 million games.

While Wordle remains free to play, players who want to track stats or get advanced tips will need a subscription to NYT Games or The New York Times itself.

Now, on to puzzle #1490. Today’s answer is a noun with two vowels (O, I) and no repeating letters. It starts with L and refers to a “small, slow-moving, large-eyed primate that lives in trees and is active at night.”

Still guessing?

Today’s Wordle answer is: Loris
