Lily Gladstone wins best actress for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’: Golden Globe 2024

The Golden Globes gave Lily Gladstone the award for Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture for her role in Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon.” It is also said that Gladstone is the first Indigenous woman to win the award. The 81st Golden Globes took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Orange County, USA. And the #GoldenGlobes award for Best Female Actor – Motion Picture – Drama goes to… Lily Gladstone for their part on Killers of the Flower Moon! They shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) with the message. Good job!”

Before thanking her mom, Gladstone said, “who, even though she’s not Blackfeet, worked tirelessly to get our language into our classroom so I had a Blackfeet language teacher growing up.” She began her victory speech in the Blackfeet language. She then said, “I’m so thankful that I can speak even a little of my language up here. I’m not fluent in it.” Variety said, “Because in this business, Native actors used to say their lines in English, and the sound mixer would play them backwards to get Native languages on camera.” “This is a huge victory. It’s not just mine. I have it in my hand right now. It’s with all of my beautiful sisters in the movie sitting at this table with me and my mother standing on top of you all,” she said. Martin Scorsese directed the movie, which had Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone in the main parts. Not only did she thank Scorsese and DiCaprio, but she also said, “You are all changing things.” Thanks for being such good friends.

Gladstone won for her role as Mollie Kyle in “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Kyle was the Native American wife of Leonardo DiCaprio’s character Ernest Burkhart, who served in World War I. Variety said that the Scorsese movie is based on the true story of the Reign of Terror in Oklahoma in the 1920s, when members of the Osage Nation were killed by a criminal group that wanted to get their oil and money.
It was Carey Mulligan (‘Maestro’), Sandra Huller (‘Anatomy of a Fall’), Annette Bening (‘Nyad’), Greta Lee (‘Past Lives’), and Cailee Spaeny (“Priscilla”) who lost to Gladstone.
