On Tuesday, actor Manoj Bajpayee was honored with a Special Mention at the 70th National Film Awards for his outstanding performance in the film Gulmohar.

The prestigious award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu during the ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

After receiving the award, Bajpayee expressed his gratitude to the audience and acknowledged the contributions of the film’s director and his co-stars. “It is a huge thing when such a small film makes its presence felt at the National Film Awards… I feel honored. Also, I can’t take all the credit myself. I thank my director, who offered me this film, and all the people who worked with me, all the co-actors who supported my work. I also express gratitude to my audience for showering love on me,” he stated.

Directed by Rahul V. Chittella, Gulmohar tells the poignant story of the multi-generational Batra family as they prepare to move out of their 34-year-old family home, Gulmohar. The film explores themes of familial bonds, secrets, and insecurities, highlighting the rediscovery of relationships during this significant life change. The film also features notable performances from Sharmila Tagore, Simran, and Suraj Sharma.

This year, Gulmohar has garnered a total of three National Awards, showcasing its impact and recognition in the Indian film industry.

With this latest accolade, Bajpayee adds to his impressive list of achievements, having previously won National Awards for Best Actor in Bhonsle (2021), Best Supporting Actor in Satya (1999), and a Special Jury Award for Pinjar (2004). His continued excellence in acting cements his status as one of the most respected actors in Indian cinema.
