Actor Gurucharan Singh, known for his role as Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular TV series ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, has returned to his Delhi residence after being missing since April 22. His return on Friday brought immense relief to his worried fans who had been expressing their concerns on social media.
Upon his return, Singh was questioned by Delhi Police, and his statement was recorded before a local court. The actor explained that he had left home for a spiritual journey.
The saga began in April when Gurucharan’s distressed father filed a complaint with the Delhi Police, reporting his son’s sudden disappearance after he was supposed to travel to Mumbai. According to his father, Gurucharan, who was visiting his parents in Delhi, never made it back to Mumbai as expected.
During their initial investigation, the police discovered that Singh had been managing multiple bank accounts and frequently using credit cards, despite not being in a strong financial position. Friends and relatives mentioned that he had been deeply involved in spiritual activities and had contemplated retreating to the mountains.
Earlier, the president of the All Indian Cine Workers Association, Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, had urged Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to expedite the investigation. Gupta released a video expressing the industry’s solidarity with Gurucharan’s family and calling for swift action.
“Actor Gurucharan Singh, known for his role as Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular Bollywood serial ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, has been missing since April 22, 2024, from Delhi Airport. His father has filed a missing case at Palam Police Station in Delhi. The entire Bollywood and Indian Film Industry stand with Gurucharan Singh’s family at every step,” Gupta stated in the video. “All Indian Cine Workers Association appeals to the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister of Delhi to expedite the resolution of the missing case of Actor Gurucharan Singh (Sodhi) and ensure justice for his father, Hargit Singh, and take strict action against the culprits,” he added.
Gurucharan Singh, who rose to fame with his role in ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, had left the show a few years ago. His sudden disappearance had left fans and colleagues anxious, but his safe return has brought much-needed relief.
