Mohun Bagan Coach Points to Difficult First Half After Loss to Kerala Blasters: ISL

Published:

Head coach Juan Ferrando of Mohun Bagan Super Giants voiced his displeasure after his team’s 1-0 loss to Kerala Blasters FC in Wednesday’s Indian Super League (ISL) Matchweek 12 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. He also brought up the issue of player fatigue. The ninth-minute goal by Kerala Blasters FC forward Dimitrios Diamantakos gave them the lead, and Mohun Bagan Super Giant gave up a goal very early in the match. Only one of the eleven shots that were attempted during the game found its target. In hard times like these, Ferrando thinks that the most crucial things are teamwork and effort.

“With eight players out, I’m not worrying about the opposition. According to an ISL press release, Ferrando said, “I am thinking about my team,” during the post-match press conference. “I am aware that it is challenging, and players are making an effort to maintain their spot in the starting lineup or take the bench. The team’s efforts and determination to perform to the best of their abilities are what matter most in difficult circumstances, he continued. The Spaniard went on, “It is difficult to win every match, but it is also difficult to lose every match.” In their last four games, Mohun Bagan Super Giants have only managed one victory, scoring five goals and giving up eight.

Ferrando thinks that his team’s growing list of absentees and worn-out players is a result of playing a lot of games in a short period of time. “We have played four key matches against NorthEast United FC, FC Goa, Mumbai City FC, and Kerala Blasters FC in the past seven days. Three players are lost when you lose a match; three more players are lost when you lose another match. The player finds it extremely challenging to play on the pitch because they feel like everyone is against them at that point, the speaker said. The players had a challenging match in the first half of today’s game. Some players, like (Anirudh) Thapa, played in a large number of matches, while other players had physical issues,” he continued.
