The great music teacher Ustad Rashid Khan died on Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday, he will be buried in Kolkata with full state honors. As part of his last rites, he would be given a gun salute. The 55-year-old Ustad Rashid Khan was getting care for cancer at a hospital in Kolkata. He took his last breath this morning.

Rashid Khan was trained by his maternal grandfather, Ustad Nissar Hussain Khan, and was the nephew of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. And he made a huge difference in Indian classical music. His soulful songs, like “Aaoge Jab Tum O Saajana” from the Kareena-Shahid movie “Jab We Met” and “Allah Hi Reham” from Shah Rukh Khan’s movie “My Name is Khan,” also made Bollywood magic. Soon after hearing the sad news, Sonu Nigam went on Instagram to pay his respects. No changes were made to the original sentence as it is an older brother and the pride of our country’s classical music. Ameen, what do you think? Okay, okay? Deeply saddened beyond words. Allah, please forgive me for what I did. We’ll always miss you. Say “Om Shanti.”

Another actor who sent his sympathies was Prosenjit Chatterjee.”A gem has been lost…” I’m very sorry for Ustad Rashid Khan’s family and friends’ loss… “Will always cherish the magical musical memories…” he wrote on X. His wife, two boys, and a daughter will miss Ustad Rashid Khan.
