Mohan Yadav thanks Narendra Modi and Nitin Gadkari for highway approval

April 5, 2026: The Central Government has approved ₹758 crore for converting the Itarsi-Betul stretch of National Highway-46 into a four-lane highway, a move expected to significantly boost connectivity and development in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, stating that the project will transform the region’s landscape and economic prospects.

The upgraded corridor will improve accessibility, speed up regional development, and strengthen links between northern and southern parts of India by connecting Betul to Nagpur. The project, part of the Gwalior-Betul corridor, is expected to reduce travel time, enhance safety, and facilitate smoother transportation of goods, especially benefiting farmers and industries in a resource-rich region known for agriculture and minerals.

The 22-km stretch, also referred to as a Tiger Corridor, will include 11 underpasses and overpasses to ensure safe wildlife movement, reducing accidents in forest areas. The development is also expected to promote eco-tourism in key destinations like Madhav National Park, Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary, and Satpura Tiger Reserve, while improving road safety in hilly terrain.
