₹25 Crore Heist: Armed Robbers Storm Tanishq Showroom in Bihar

Daring Daylight Robbery in Arrah, Police Engage in Shootout to Nab Suspects

March 10, 2025: In a shocking daylight robbery, a gang of armed robbers stormed a Tanishq showroom in Arrah, Bihar, looting ₹25 crore worth of jewellery and cash. The brazen heist occurred shortly after the store opened at 10:30 am on Monday, with five to six masked men overpowering security personnel and taking hostages at gunpoint.

How the Heist Unfolded

✔️ The Attack:

  • The robbers arrived in a car, parked across the street, and entered the showroom in pairs.
  • Upon entry, they snatched the security guard’s weapon, assaulted him, and forced staff and customers to comply.
  • The gang then methodically packed jewellery, including gold chains, necklaces, bangles, and diamonds, into their bags.

  • Video footage shows the masked robbers ordering people to raise their hands while swiftly looting the store.

✔️ Showroom Employee Testimony:

  • Security guard Manoj Kumar recalled how one of the robbers held a gun to his head before attacking him.
  • Employee Rohit Kumar Mishra stated that staff members hid behind counters to protect themselves.

Police Response & Chase

✔️ Immediate Investigation:

  • The Bhojpur Superintendent of Police ordered vehicle checks across the district.
  • CCTV footage was circulated to identify suspects.

✔️ Shootout & Arrests:

  • Six suspects on three motorcycles were spotted near Babura Choti bridge and ordered to stop.
  • The suspects opened fire on police, leading to a high-speed chase and exchange of gunfire.
  • Two robbers were injured and arrested, while the police recovered two pistols, 10 cartridges, stolen jewellery, and a Pulsar motorcycle.

Delay in Police Response?

The showroom manager, Kumar Mrityunjay, expressed frustration over the police response:
🔹 “It was broad daylight, yet there was no immediate police intervention despite repeated calls.”
🔹 “Two of our executives were injured after being hit with revolvers.”

  • Tanishq’s management is assisting police in evaluating the full extent of the losses.

  • Authorities believe some suspects are still at large and are expanding search operations.
