Tragedy strikes Hotel Naaz in Ajmer as a fire caused by suspected short circuit leaves four dead, including a child; rescue efforts hampered by narrow lanes.

A devastating fire at Hotel Naaz in Ajmer early Thursday morning claimed four lives, including a woman and a four-year-old child, and injured at least eight others, officials confirmed. The blaze broke out around 8 AM, reportedly due to a short circuit, and quickly spread through the building, forcing desperate guests to jump from windows to escape.

Among the harrowing scenes, one incident has left the internet stunned: a woman, in a desperate attempt to save her child, threw him from the third-floor window. The boy, who miraculously survived with minor burns, was caught by a fellow guest below.
“A woman threw her child in my lap from a window. She also tried to jump but we stopped her,” said Mangila Kalosia, a hotel guest, speaking to PTI.

Rescue Operations & Casualties:
- Four fatalities have been confirmed: two men, one woman, and the child.
- Eight individuals are undergoing treatment at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College.
- Visuals from the site showed thick black smoke and panicked guests leaping from windows. In one video, a man attempted to slide down a rope but lost grip and fell.
The fire has since been extinguished, confirmed ADM City Gajendra Singh Rathore.
“The search operation is complete. No one is left inside. The fire reportedly started from the electric panel and spread rapidly,” he said.
Challenges in Rescue:
The hotel’s location in a congested alley severely hampered the fire brigade’s efforts. Several firefighters and police officers fainted during the rescue due to smoke and heat exposure.
There were 18 guests, mostly pilgrims from Delhi, staying in the hotel at the time of the incident. An official inquiry has been ordered, with early reports pointing to a possible AC explosion that triggered the fire.
