5 Feared Dead in Devastating Explosion at Ordnance Factory in Maharashtra’s Bhandara

A powerful blast rocked the factory, with its impact felt up to 5 km away; rescue operations are underway.

January 24, 2025: Mumbai: A massive explosion at an ordnance factory in Maharashtra’s Bhandara district has left at least five workers feared dead, with rescue operations currently underway. The tragic incident occurred at approximately 10:30 am on Friday, sending shockwaves across the region.

The blast, described as extremely powerful, was heard up to 5 kilometers away, with witnesses reporting thick plumes of smoke rising from the site. A video captured from a distance shows the massive scale of destruction caused by the explosion.

Speaking about the incident, District Collector Sanjay Kolte confirmed the magnitude of the blast and assured that rescue and medical teams have been deployed to locate survivors and provide aid.

Emergency responders and medical personnel are combing through the site, hoping to find survivors amid the wreckage. However, the intensity of the blast has raised concerns about the likelihood of further casualties.
