580 Phones Returned In Delhi Drive
Mission Re-Connect 3.0 recovers devices worth ₹1.25 crore
February 20, 2026: Amid rising concerns over mobile phone theft in the national capital, Delhi Police recovered and returned 580 lost or stolen mobile phones under Mission Re-Connect 3.0 – Your Phone’s Journey Back Home. Launched during Delhi Police Week 2026 by the Transport Range, the initiative covered the Metro, Railway and IGI Airport units. The recovered devices are valued at nearly ₹1.25 crore, marking a significant relief for citizens.
According to official data, 266 phones were linked to Metro unit cases, 188 to Railway unit cases and 126 to IGI Airport unit cases. The recovery drive builds on the success of earlier phases of Mission Re-Connect, during which over 800 phones worth ₹1.5 crore were traced and handed back to owners. The success ceremony was held on February 19, 2026, at the DCP Metro office complex in Kashmiri Gate, where around 155 complainants attended and many received their phones on the spot.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at strengthening public trust while taking strict action against mobile theft offenders. Using CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) technology, data analysis and sustained follow-ups, police teams traced the devices efficiently. Authorities assured that similar campaigns will continue, emphasizing that public service and zero tolerance toward crime remain top priorities.
