“President Murmu leads the nation in celebrating India’s 76th Republic Day, showcasing 75 years of the Constitution and the spirit of ‘Jan Bhagidari.'”

January 26, 2025: President Droupadi Murmu led the nation in celebrating the 76th Republic Day at Kartavya Path, marking 75 years since the enactment of the Indian Constitution. With the theme of “Jan Bhagidari” (People’s Participation), this year’s event highlighted India’s cultural diversity, unity, and defence advancements.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attended as the Chief Guest, along with 10,000 special guests from various sectors, representing the architects of a “Swarnim Bharat” (Golden India). Prime Minister Narendra Modi began the day with a solemn tribute to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial, before joining the parade at Kartavya Path.

The celebration kicked off with a 21-gun salute and cultural performances by 300 artists, followed by a grand parade featuring India’s military prowess and regional tableaux. Highlights included:

  • Tableaux: Gujarat presented “Anartpur to Ekta Nagar: Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi,” while Bihar’s tableau returned after eight years, showcasing the state’s Buddhist heritage with depictions of Nalanda University and a meditative Buddha statue. Uttar Pradesh also featured its Maha Kumbh tableau, blending spirituality and patriotism.
  • Military Displays: The Indian Army showcased cutting-edge defense systems, including the Integrated Battlefield Surveillance System and Akash Weapon System, highlighting self-reliance and innovation in modern warfare.
  • Cultural Showcases: 300 artists performed “Saare Jahan Se Acchha” using indigenous instruments such as shehnai, dhol, and tutari, capturing India’s rich musical heritage.
  • Naval and Aerial Highlights: The Indian Navy demonstrated “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” naval strength, while a flypast by 40 aircraft and Mi-17 helicopters performing a flower petal shower added grandeur.

The celebration concluded with the national anthem and the release of balloons symbolizing the 75th anniversary of the Constitution, leaving spectators with a sense of pride and unity.
