8 Held in Alleged Terror Conspiracy
Delhi Police probe suspected cross-border links
February 22, 2026: The Delhi Police have arrested eight individuals from Tamil Nadu and West Bengal for allegedly being part of a terror conspiracy with suspected links to Pakistan-based handlers and Bangladesh-based extremist groups. Six of the accused — Mizanur Rahman, Mohammed Shabat, Umar, Mohammed Litan, Mohammed Shahid and Mohammed Ujjal — were detained from garment manufacturing units in Tiruppur district, while two others were picked up from West Bengal. Officials said one of those arrested is believed to be a Bangladeshi national.
Investigators claimed the six men were employed at garment factories in Uthukuli, Palladam and Tirumuruganpoondi, allegedly using forged Aadhaar cards to conceal their identities. During the operation, police recovered eight mobile phones and 16 SIM cards. Sources further alleged that the accused were posting content supporting Pakistan-based terror outfits on social media and conducting reconnaissance in multiple cities. Authorities are also probing claims that “Free Kashmir” posters were put up in parts of Delhi as part of their activities.
The arrests were initially carried out by Tamil Nadu Police, after which the suspects were brought to Delhi for further questioning. The development comes amid heightened security concerns following intelligence inputs about possible threats by Lashkar-e-Taiba targeting prominent locations, including the Red Fort and religious sites in Chandni Chowk. Agencies are now investigating potential links between the suspects and previous terror modules as the probe continues.
