Akbaruddin Owaisi Targets BJP, Congress
AIMIM MLA alleges no difference between parties on Muslim issues
February 27, 2026: A sharp political exchange unfolded in Hyderabad after Akbaruddin Owaisi of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) accused both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian National Congress of adopting similar approaches on issues concerning the Muslim community. Owaisi alleged that there is “no difference” between the two parties in matters affecting minorities.
He claimed that the Congress government in Telangana under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was functioning in a manner comparable to the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh led by Yogi Adityanath. Referring to reported demolitions of houses, mosques and dargahs, Owaisi alleged that similar actions were taking place in both states. He further remarked that Congress “changes its attire and pretends to be sympathetic” but acts no differently from the BJP when Muslim-related issues arise.
The remarks have sparked fresh political debate in Telangana, with reactions expected from both Congress and BJP leaders. The statement is likely to intensify discourse ahead of upcoming political engagements in the state, as parties trade charges over governance and minority welfare.
