‘Tea seller’ comment sparks fresh political confrontation ahead of polls

February 15, 2026: Akbaruddin Owaisi launched a sharp political attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to him as a “tea seller” and asserting that such labels cannot intimidate him or his community. “A tea seller will not be able to scare us,” Owaisi said, adding that “this country is not anyone’s private property.” His remarks come amid heightened political rhetoric ahead of upcoming elections.

In his statement, Owaisi stressed resilience and defiance, declaring that fear and his community “cannot go together.” He said neither money nor political power would instill fear, and maintained that political leadership may change over time but his community would remain steadfast.
