SP Chief Claims Votes Were Cast for Deceased and Migrated Voters, Slams UP Government Over Mahakumbh Figures

Lucknow, February 15: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh of electoral malpractices in the recently concluded Milkipur assembly bypolls, alleging that votes were fraudulently cast in the names of deceased and migrated voters.

Yadav claimed that while such manipulations might work in an individual constituency, they would not be effective across the state’s 403 assembly seats.

“Votes were cast even in the names of those who have died or migrated. Will officers now be deployed based on caste? This ‘chaar soh bissi’ (foul play) might work in one seat, but not in 403. We will be even better prepared for the 2027 elections,” Yadav told reporters.

🔴 Yadav Demands Mahakumbh Extension, Accuses UP Govt of Underreporting Attendance

In addition to his allegations of electoral misconduct, Yadav also called for the extension of the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, arguing that this would allow senior citizens more time to take a holy dip at Triveni Sangam.

He further accused the UP government of underreporting the number of attendees at the religious event.

🔹 Official records suggest that 501.1 million (50.11 crore) people have attended the event so far.
🔹 Yadav, however, claims that the actual number is around 600 million (60 crore).

🔹 SP Chief Alleges Large-Scale Rigging in Milkipur Bypolls

Yadav reiterated his stance that the BJP engaged in large-scale electoral fraud during the Milkipur by-elections.

“It wasn’t an election but a loot. People have seen this, and so has PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak). Those who say they have taken revenge for losing Ayodhya in the Lok Sabha elections should know that you cannot take revenge on Ayodhya,” Yadav asserted.

The Milkipur assembly bypolls saw a victory for BJP candidate Chandrabhanu Paswan, who won by a margin of 61,710 votes against SP’s Ajit Prasad.

With UP Assembly elections in 2027 on the horizon, Yadav signaled that the SP would be better prepared to challenge the BJP’s alleged manipulations in the future.
