Akhilesh Yadav Slams Govt Over Lack of Public Alert
April 4, 2026: A drone reportedly being tested by a private company crashed in an agricultural field in Saifai on Saturday, triggering panic among locals already anxious due to ongoing global tensions. Many villagers initially feared it could be a missile linked to the West Asia conflict. The incident quickly drew political attention, with Akhilesh Yadav criticising the state government for not informing residents about such trials in advance.
Yadav questioned the decision to conduct drone testing near populated areas without prior warning, warning that the accident could have led to serious damage had it hit a settlement. He demanded a proper investigation into the incident and compensation for the affected farmer, citing both economic loss and psychological distress. Taking a swipe at the ruling party, he also raised concerns over the neglected airstrip in Saifai.
Responding to the incident, Etawah district police clarified that the crashed object was a prototype drone under trial in Nandpur village and confirmed that no casualties or damage were reported. Meanwhile, Yadav also accused the BJP of linking domestic issues like fertiliser shortages to the West Asia conflict, alleging that such narratives were being used to divert attention from farmers’ concerns.
