“Once potential customers contacted them, they demanded personal documents like PAN Card, Aadhaar card, and selfies for registration. They would then extort money under the pretext of hotel bookings and registration fees,” said DSP Imran Pervez.

Evidence Uncovered

Those arrested have been identified as Prince Raj, Bhola Kumar, and Rahul Kumar. The police recovered six mobile phones from the accused, which contained WhatsApp chats, customer photographs, audio recordings, and evidence of bank transactions related to the scam.

The investigation has revealed that the gang collected large sums of money by exploiting people who fell prey to their deceptive promises.

Police Action

The police are continuing their investigation to identify others involved in this network and to recover the money extorted from victims. The incident serves as a reminder to exercise caution online, especially when encountering dubious offers.
