Amit Shah launches Bharatiya Janata Party manifesto in Kolkata ahead of crucial assembly elections.
April 10, 2026: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday released the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ in Kolkata, marking a significant push in the party’s campaign for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. Addressing the media, Shah said the manifesto outlines solutions for farmers, youth, and women, while promising a renewed focus on preserving Bengal’s culture and identity. He claimed the state is witnessing growing dissatisfaction, and the BJP’s vision offers a path forward.
The manifesto includes key promises such as strengthening law and order, action against infiltrators, implementation of the seventh pay commission, and introducing the Uniform Civil Code within six months if voted to power. Following the launch, Shah is set to address a rally in Debra and participate in a roadshow in Kharagpur, signalling an aggressive campaign strategy in the state.
The BJP said the ‘Sankalp Patra 2026’ was shaped through a large-scale public outreach campaign that collected over eight lakh suggestions from citizens, including farmers, students, and professionals. State party president Samik Bhattacharya said the manifesto reflects the aspirations of the people and aims to go beyond a traditional political document, positioning it as a roadmap for Bengal’s future.
