Background: Pahalgam Attack Fallout

On Tuesday, terrorists opened fire on tourists at Baisaran meadow — often called “Mini Switzerland” — near Pahalgam, killing 26 people, including visitors from other Indian states. The massacre has severely strained India-Pakistan relations, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowing to pursue the perpetrators “to the ends of the earth.”

In a series of retaliatory actions:

  • Aadil Hussain Thoker’s house was destroyed in Bijbehara, Anantnag,
  • Asif Sheikh’s house was demolished in Tral, Pulwama,
  • Additional demolitions were carried out in Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, and Kupwara.

Officials said Thoker and Sheikh are prime suspects in the Pahalgam attack, though investigations into their exact roles are ongoing.

Security forces continue operations to dismantle terror hideouts, disrupt networks, and eliminate threats across the Kashmir Valley.
