Governor outlines Swarna Andhra Vision amid Opposition protest

February 11, 2026: Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer on Wednesday said the state is aiming to build a Rs 308 lakh crore (USD 3.4 trillion) economy with a per capita income of Rs 55 lakh by 2047 under the Swarna Andhra Vision. Addressing a joint session of the Legislature, he said the government is focused on sustained high growth. The session witnessed sloganeering by YSRCP MLAs demanding Opposition party status, following which they staged a walkout led by former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Citing FY26 advance estimates, the Governor said the state’s GSDP rose to Rs 17.6 lakh crore from Rs 15.9 lakh crore, marking a 10.7% nominal growth, with per capita income increasing to Rs 2.95 lakh.

Highlighting welfare and governance reforms, Nazeer said the “Super Six” guarantees have emerged as one of the largest DBT initiatives globally, with nearly Rs 33,000 crore spent annually. Schemes such as “Thalliki Vandanam” are providing Rs 15,000 per year to over 66 lakh mothers for children’s education, while the “Sthree Shakti” free bus travel initiative has enabled 37.8 crore journeys by women and transgenders. The state is also rolling out universal health coverage of Rs 2.5 lakh per resident and extending cashless treatment up to Rs 25 lakh annually for 1.43 crore BPL families, including high-end procedures.

The Governor said infrastructure, industrial growth and regional equity remain key priorities, with renewed momentum behind Amaravati’s development and the Polavaram Project targeted for completion by June 2027. He noted preparations for the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu and a cooperation pact with Singapore for sustainable urban governance. The Union Government has also initiated steps to grant statutory status to Amaravati as the permanent capital. The Assembly session is expected to continue until March 12.
