July 19, 2025: Most banks across India will remain open today, Saturday, July 19, as it is the third Saturday of the month. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, banks operate on the first and third Saturdays, while the second and fourth Saturdays are designated as official holidays.
However, banks in Tripura will remain closed today in observance of Ker Puja, a significant local festival. This is the only state where banking services will be unavailable due to a regional holiday.
Understanding Bank Holidays in India
The RBI classifies bank holidays under three categories:
- Negotiable Instruments Act
- Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) holidays
- Bank closing of accounts

Banks also remain closed on all Sundays, making weekend planning essential for customers requiring in-branch services.

Even on bank holidays, online banking services remain fully functional. Whether it’s UPI transactions, fund transfers, applying for loans, net banking, or requesting chequebooks, customers can access most digital services 24/7 throughout the year.
This uninterrupted availability ensures minimal disruption to banking needs, even when physical branches are closed due to holidays.
