Counsel raises concerns over timing, procedure in India AI Summit protest case
February 24, 2026: The lawyer representing Uday Bhanu Chib has questioned the action taken by Delhi Police following his arrest in connection with the alleged “shirtless protest” during the India AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam last week. According to sources, Chib — National President of the Indian Youth Congress — was taken into custody around 4:30 am after prolonged questioning and later formally arrested.
His counsel has reportedly raised concerns over the timing of the arrest and whether due legal procedure was followed. The defence is understood to be examining the circumstances under which Chib was detained and subsequently booked, suggesting possible procedural lapses.
Police officials, however, maintain that the action forms part of an ongoing investigation into the protest incident. Sources indicate that Chib may soon be produced before a court as the legal process moves forward.
