Former Delhi minister says acquittal exposes ‘political misuse’ of agencies
February 28, 2026: Former Delhi leader Atishi Marlena has welcomed the recent court verdict clearing Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and other AAP leaders of all allegations in the liquor policy case. Reacting to the judgment, she said the ruling proved that truth ultimately prevails despite years of trial and what she described as politically motivated accusations.
Atishi strongly criticised the alleged misuse of central agencies, claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party had attempted to target opposition leaders through institutions such as the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Directorate of Enforcement. She said the court had found discrepancies in the prosecution’s case and no credible evidence of corruption, calling for accountability and possible disciplinary action against officials involved in the investigation.
The former minister asserted that the verdict reinforces the principle that justice stands above political vendetta. Political observers believe the ruling could have implications for upcoming elections in Punjab and Gujarat, potentially reshaping the narrative around the Aam Aadmi Party ahead of key electoral contests.
