Bail Battle Intensifies: Atul Subhash’s Wife Accused of Using Child as Leverage in Court

Legal battle intensifies as Atul Subhash’s family raises concerns over child custody and bail plea of accused wife Nikita Singhania.

December 31, 2024: In a heated legal battle, the counsel representing the family of Atul Subhash, an automobile company employee who allegedly died by suicide, urged the court not to allow the accused wife, Nikita Singhania, to use their child as a tool for securing bail. The case, which has drawn significant attention, is scheduled for a hearing on January 4 in Bengaluru.

Akash Jindal, the family’s counsel, argued that Nikita’s legal team is attempting to leverage the child’s custody to secure bail. “The child should not be used as a bargaining chip in this case. The nature of the allegations is serious, and we have also filed a habeas corpus petition in the Supreme Court to ensure the child’s safety,” he stated.

Atul Subhash’s father, Pavan Kumar Modi, expressed deep concern over the child’s safety, fearing potential harm if custody is granted to Nikita. “If she could drive my son to such a tragic end, how can we trust her with the child’s safety?” he questioned.

The family further alleged financial exploitation, claiming Nikita had made repeated monetary demands under the guise of child care expenses, escalating from Rs 20,000 to Rs 80,000 per month.

Atul Subhash reportedly left behind a 90-minute video and a 40-page note detailing harassment and financial pressures from his wife and her family, which allegedly drove him to take his life.

The Bengaluru Police have arrested Nikita Singhania, her mother, and brother, charging them under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The family now awaits the Supreme Court hearing on January 7, where the child’s custody and further legal directions will be discussed.

As the case progresses, both parties remain firm in their stance, with the court’s decision expected to have significant ramifications for both the custody battle and the ongoing bail plea.
