Bengaluru Metro Outrage: FIR Filed Over Instagram Account Sharing Unsolicited Images Of Women

A disturbing Instagram page that posted non-consensual photos of female metro passengers has sparked widespread outrage and prompted swift police action in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru, May 21, 2025 – Bengaluru Police have registered an FIR against unidentified individuals after an Instagram account was found sharing unsolicited photographs of women travelling on the Namma Metro without their consent.

The account, operating under the handle ‘Bangalore Metro Chicks’, came under heavy public criticism after it was discovered posting covert images of female passengers taken inside metro coaches and on platforms. The page had garnered more than 5,000 followers before the controversy erupted.

According to police officials, there is no indication that any of the women featured in the images were aware they were being photographed or had granted permission for their photos to be posted online.

The case came to light after a concerned user flagged the account on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and tagged the Bengaluru City Police, calling for immediate action. Acting on the alert, police took cognizance of the matter suo motu and initiated a formal investigation.

Following the public outrage and filing of the FIR, all images were deleted from the Instagram page, and the account is now under digital forensic scrutiny.

Authorities have urged citizens to report similar incidents and reminded the public that unauthorized photography, especially in sensitive public spaces, can constitute a serious violation of privacy and dignity, punishable under the law.
