39 More Candidates Announced Ahead Of 2026 Polls
March 19, 2026: Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified its preparations for the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections by releasing its second list of 39 candidates across key constituencies. The decision was finalised at a Central Election Committee meeting chaired by Nitin Nabin, attended by top leaders including Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, and Amit Shah. The list highlights a strong focus on northern Kerala seats such as Kasaragod, Taliparamba, and Thalassery.
The party has fielded candidates like Ashwini M.L. from Kasaragod, A.V. Sanil Kumar from Kalliasseri, and N. Haridas from Taliparamba, among others. It has also made strategic entries into politically significant constituencies including Manjeri, Malappuram, Vengara, and Tirur—regions where it has traditionally faced tough competition. The move signals BJP’s intent to expand its electoral footprint in the state.
This announcement follows the party’s earlier list of 47 candidates, which included key figures like state chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Union Minister George Kurian. With plans to contest around 90–100 seats in the 140-member assembly, BJP is aiming for a wider presence, while its allies—BDJS, Twenty-20, and Kamaraj Congress—are expected to field candidates in the remaining constituencies, strengthening the party’s overall electoral strategy.
