Sambit Patra accuses Congress leader of damaging India’s global image

March 10, 2026: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sambit Patra on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Rahul Gandhi, accusing the Congress leader of actions that allegedly undermine India’s image on the global stage. Speaking at a press conference, Patra claimed Gandhi was the “architect and designer” behind a presentation at an international AI summit that, according to him, portrayed India negatively before a global audience.

Patra further alleged that Gandhi’s remarks highlighted the vulnerabilities of marginalised communities, including Dalits, tribals and Muslims, in a manner that projected India as a country in crisis. Drawing a controversial comparison, the BJP spokesperson said Gandhi’s conduct reminded him of Mir Jafar, suggesting that the Congress leader appeared pleased while the nation was allegedly being defamed internationally.

The BJP MP also criticised Gandhi’s public conduct, including his attire in Parliament and statements claiming credit for the AI summit, calling them attempts that could harm the country’s reputation. Patra alleged that Gandhi’s actions were part of a broader strategy involving international backing, though he did not present evidence for the claims. He added that India would remain resilient despite what he described as efforts to weaken its standing globally.
