June 05, 2025: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and MP from Krishnanagar, Mahua Moitra, has reportedly tied the knot with senior advocate and former BJD MP Pinaki Misra in Germany on May 30. While no official statement has been made by the couple, news of their wedding quickly spread across social media, sparking a wave of congratulations.

TMC MP from Jadavpur, Saayoni Ghosh, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her best wishes for the newlyweds. “Congratulations Mm & Pm… Mahua Moitra, Pinaki Misra, wishing you a lifetime of love and laughter!” she posted.

While some leaders from TMC and BJD claimed they were unaware of the details, the news has already stirred significant buzz online.

Mahua Moitra, a former investment banker turned politician, is currently serving her second term as a Lok Sabha MP. She was earlier married to Danish financier Lars Brorson.

Pinaki Misra, a four-time MP from Puri, Odisha, is a prominent Supreme Court advocate and was previously married to Sangeeta Misra, with whom he shares two children.

Moitra made headlines in 2023 after being accused in a high-profile “bribe-for-query” scandal in Parliament. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey alleged, based on a letter by Moitra’s former partner Jai Anant Dehadrai, that she received cash and gifts from businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for raising questions in Parliament. Though she denied accepting bribes, Moitra admitted sharing her Parliament login credentials with Hiranandani’s office. She was expelled from the Lok Sabha in December 2023 but made a strong comeback by winning re-election in 2024 with a margin of over 56,000 votes.
