Breaking: Mahua Moitra Marries Abroad, First Pictures Go Viral

June 5, 2025: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Pinaki Misra tied the knot in a quiet ceremony in Berlin on May 3, as confirmed by sources close to the couple. The two senior parliamentarians, aged 51 and 65 respectively, chose an intimate overseas setting to keep the affair low-key and away from the public eye.

Both Moitra and Misra share a long-standing friendship that gradually evolved into a deeper bond. Their union has drawn interest not just for personal reasons but also due to their influential roles in Indian politics.

Moitra, a two-time MP from West Bengal’s Krishnanagar constituency, boasts a distinguished career, having previously served as a vice president at JP Morgan & Chase in the US. She was earlier married to Danish financial expert Lars Brorsen.

Misra, the sitting MP from Odisha’s Puri constituency and a seasoned political figure, was previously married to Sangeeta Mishra. He began his political career with the Indian National Congress in 1996 before joining the BJD.

Interestingly, both Moitra and Misra have their political roots in the Congress Party—Moitra in 2009, and Misra over a decade earlier—before moving on to their current parties. Their partnership marks not just a personal milestone but also a coming together of two political journeys shaped by experience, resilience, and public service.
