Rescue officials confirmed that several people are feared trapped under the debris. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Delhi Police are on the site and have begun rescue and relief operations.
The incident comes amid a sudden change in weather conditions, with torrential rain and strong winds lashing multiple parts of the national capital late Friday night.
This is the second construction-related tragedy reported in recent days. Last week, a six-floor under-construction building in Madhu Vihar saw part of its wall collapse during a dust storm, resulting in one fatality and two injuries.
Additional DCP (East) Vineet Kumar stated, “We received a PCR call around 7 pm regarding a wall collapse during the dust storm. Sadly, one person lost their life, and two others were injured and taken to the hospital.”
Authorities have urged residents in older and under-construction buildings to stay alert during adverse weather conditions.
