China: SCO Members Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack

In a major diplomatic victory for India, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) issued a strong condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack. The joint statement from member states, including Pakistan, echoed PM Modi’s call for ‘no double standards’ on terrorism.

September 1, 2025: On April 22, 2025, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killed at least 26 people, most of them were tourists. The world has strongly denounced this attack. All of the members of the United Nations Security Council agreed on a press release that condemned the “reprehensible act” in the “strongest terms” and asked for those who planned, financed, or supported it to be held accountable.

The statement said that the Council wants to send its “deepest sympathy and condolences” to the families of the victims and the governments of India and Nepal. It also wanted the people who were harmed to get better swiftly. Many governments and international organizations around the world spoke out against the attack, which was claimed to have been carried out by a terrorist group that targeted non-Muslim guests.

The Security Council members reaffirmed again that they are completely dedicated to fighting all types of terrorism. They also said that it is unacceptable to use terrorist and extremist groups for “mercenary purposes.” The statement made it clear that these kinds of threats should be fought by the correct individuals in each country.

The Commonwealth, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the heads of BRICS are just a few of the many countries and entities that have also spoken out against the event. At the most recent Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping talked about the issue. He highlighted how important it is for everyone to work together to stop terrorism that crosses borders. According to reports, China responded to the issue with “understanding and cooperation.”

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) in India has uncovered connections between the attack and members of the Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The NIA revealed in a recent report that the terrorists picked the picturesque Baisaran meadow on purpose since it was quiet and there were a lot of people there. After the attack, Indian troops sprang into action, and reports claim they were especially going after terrorist hideouts in Pakistan.
