December 24, 2024: Hyderabad: In a fresh controversy surrounding the upcoming Telugu blockbuster ‘Pushpa 2: The Rise’, Congress leader Theenmar Mallanna has filed a police complaint against Allu Arjun, the movie’s lead actor, and director Sukumar. The complaint was lodged at Medipalli Police Station and also names the film’s producers.
The complaint specifically highlights a scene where Allu Arjun’s character urinates in a swimming pool while a police officer is present in it. Mallanna described the depiction as “disrespectful and degrading to the dignity of law enforcement officers.”
In his complaint, the Congress MLC has urged authorities to take strict action against those responsible for the scene, calling for accountability from the film’s team.
This complaint comes shortly after the tragic stampede incident at a Hyderabad movie hall during the film’s premiere on December 4, where a woman lost her life, and her 8-year-old son remains in a coma.
Allu Arjun, who attended the premiere despite police refusing permission for the event, was arrested and later released on bail. The actor has now received a fresh police summons to appear for questioning at 11 AM on Tuesday.
The issue has escalated into a political controversy, with the BJP and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) targeting the Congress government over the violent protests outside Allu Arjun’s residence.
In a related event, six individuals, allegedly students from Osmania University, were arrested for hurling tomatoes at Allu Arjun’s house and damaging property, including flower pots.
The police have assured a thorough investigation into both the film’s controversial scene and the recent protests. Meanwhile, the movie’s team has remained tight-lipped about the controversy.
