Delhi records 99 new cases in the past week as India sees a mild resurgence of Covid-19, with Kerala and Maharashtra leading in active infections.
May 26, 2025: Over 100 active Covid-19 cases have emerged in Delhi as India grapples with a slight resurgence of the disease that has impacted millions since 2020.
According to the country’s central COVID-19 dashboard, India now has 1,009 active cases nationwide. In Delhi alone, 104 active cases have been recorded, with 99 reported in just the last week.

Kerala leads the surge with 430 active cases, followed by Maharashtra at 209. Delhi ranks third, while Gujarat has 83 active cases, Karnataka 47, Uttar Pradesh 15, and West Bengal 12.
The recent uptick has claimed at least seven lives — four in Maharashtra, two in Kerala, and one in Karnataka.

Meanwhile, states like Andaman and Nicobar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir have reported no active cases.

India’s Covid cases had seen a steep decline after an aggressive vaccination drive across age groups, leading to the easing of strict containment rules.
