Cricket Fraternity Pays Tribute to Former PM Manmohan Singh

Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, and Shikhar Dhawan express heartfelt condolences, honoring Dr. Singh’s contributions to India’s economy and leadership.

New Delhi, December 27: Former Indian cricketers Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, and Shikhar Dhawan paid heartfelt tributes to Dr. Manmohan Singh, India’s former Prime Minister, who passed away on Thursday night at the age of 92. The cricketing icons took to social media to express their grief and admiration for Dr. Singh’s impactful leadership and economic reforms.

Heartfelt Tributes from Cricket Stars

Gautam Gambhir praised Dr. Singh’s role in stabilizing the Indian economy, calling him a “one of a kind” leader.
“Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji was truly one of a kind. His contribution, especially towards bringing economic stability to our country, will be studied by future generations. May God give strength to his family and loved ones,” Gambhir wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Suresh Raina kept his tribute short but sincere, saying, “Rest In Peace.”

Shikhar Dhawan hailed Dr. Singh as a visionary leader, noting his immense contribution to the nation.
“A great soul and a visionary leader. You will be missed. Rest in peace, sir,” he shared on X.

Irfan Pathan highlighted Dr. Singh’s legacy, saying India and its economy remain indebted to his contributions.
“India and its economy will forever be indebted to Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji for his remarkable contributions. May his soul rest in peace. Heartfelt condolences to his family,” Pathan wrote.

A Statesman Remembered

Dr. Manmohan Singh, known as the architect of India’s economic reforms, passed away due to age-related health conditions. He experienced a sudden loss of consciousness at his home and was rushed to AIIMS Delhi, where he was declared dead despite resuscitative measures.

“With profound grief, we inform the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, aged 92. Despite all efforts, he could not be revived and was declared dead at 9:51 PM,” AIIMS stated.

A Legacy of Leadership

Born in Punjab in 1932, Dr. Singh served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014. His tenure is marked by transformative economic policies, inclusive growth, and pivotal international agreements, including the Indo-US Nuclear Deal.

He retired from the Rajya Sabha earlier this year after serving for 33 years in the Upper House of Parliament.

The cricketing community, along with political leaders and citizens, continues to mourn the loss of a leader whose contributions shaped modern India’s economic landscape. As tributes pour in, Dr. Manmohan Singh’s legacy remains etched in the hearts of millions.
