Delhi Court Defers Order on POCSO Case Against Former WFI Chief Brij Bhushan

New Delhi, November 30: The Patiala House Court in Delhi on Saturday deferred its decision on the cancellation report filed by the Delhi Police in a POCSO case against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

The case stems from a complaint filed by a minor female wrestler, which accused Singh of misconduct. The Delhi Police submitted a cancellation report after the complainant retracted her earlier statement.

Deferral Due to Leave

Special POCSO Judge Gomati Manocha, who was set to deliver the order, was on leave. The matter has now been rescheduled for January 16, 2024, and is listed under the category of clarification.

Background and Proceedings

The court initially reserved its order on the cancellation report on August 1, 2023, after hearing the responses of the complainant and her father. Both stated that they were satisfied with the investigation and did not oppose the report, according to Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava.

Parallel Sexual Harassment Case

In a related development, a separate sexual harassment case against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and WFI official Vinod Tomar is ongoing in Rouse Avenue Court. The court has ordered that charges be framed against both individuals, indicating further legal proceedings.
