A Dalit student from Lucknow University alleges death threats after criticising Samajwadi Party, sparking a political controversy.
April 10, 2026: A Dalit student associated with the Youth Against Mafia has alleged receiving death threats after criticising the Samajwadi Party, triggering a political row in Uttar Pradesh. The student, who studies at Lucknow University, claimed he received an abusive call warning him of dire consequences following his remarks against the party and its leadership.
According to the student, the threat was linked to his comparison of the Akhilesh Yadav-led government to “Lyari Raj,” a remark made as part of a wider poster campaign by the Youth Against Mafia. He alleged that despite approaching the Hasanganj police station with fellow members, no FIR was registered. The student also accused an SP worker, identified as SK Singh, of using casteist slurs during the incident.
Amid the escalating controversy, the student said he would not be intimidated and appealed to Yogi Adityanath for intervention. The dispute intensified after posters targeting the SP were put up across districts and later torn down by party workers. The incident has raised concerns over the safety of students engaged in political activism, with demands growing for prompt action by authorities.
