Delhi Airport Operations Uninterrupted Amid Regional Tensions, Passengers Advised Vigilance

Despite regional security concerns and widespread airspace closures, Delhi Airport remains fully functional with precautionary protocols and schedule advisories in place.

New Delhi [India], May 11: Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) on Sunday confirmed that operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport are proceeding without disruption.

In a travel advisory issued by DIAL, the airport operator assured passengers that “Delhi Airport operations continue to run smoothly.” However, it cautioned that “due to evolving airspace dynamics and increased security measures mandated by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, flight schedules may undergo changes and security checks could take longer.”

Passengers have been advised to:

  • Stay informed through official airline communication channels.
  • Adhere strictly to baggage regulations.
  • Arrive well in advance to account for potential security delays.
  • Cooperate with airport and airline personnel for smooth processing.
  • Check real-time flight updates via the official Delhi Airport website or their airline.

The airport authority also emphasized, “We strongly advise all passengers to depend exclusively on official updates for accurate information and to refrain from spreading or acting on unverified reports.”

The advisory follows a broader regional aviation alert. The Airports Authority of India (AAI), along with other aviation authorities, has enforced a temporary suspension of civil flight operations at 32 airports across northern and western India. The NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) is effective from May 9 to May 14, 2025, and includes key airports such as Amritsar, Srinagar, Jodhpur, and Leh.

This comes in the wake of significant cross-border escalation. In the early hours of Saturday, Indian forces launched precision strikes on four Pakistani airbases, reportedly in response to Pakistan’s drone and missile attacks targeting 26 Indian locations. Intermittent firing continues along the Line of Control, defense sources said.

While tensions simmer, Delhi Airport remains operational — with heightened vigilance.
